Saturday, September 6 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM: ASOC Friends and Fun: Wild Rivers
Calling all Friends and Fun members- let’s end Summer with a splash! On Saturday, September 6th from 2-6 pm we will be at Wild Rivers water park in Irvine. Between water slides, a lazy river and wave pool there is something for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to wear a swimsuit or waterproof clothes and bring sunscreen! Note that this event is by invitation only.
Sunday, September 7 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Dungeons and Dragons. The ASOC Dungeon and Dragons Group journey continues. The cost is $15 per person and food, and drink will be served. All participants must be dues-paying ASOC Members. Note that there are three sessions: 12-1:30 pm (Teens), 1:45-3:15 pm (Adult-Group 1); 3:30-5:00 pm (Adult-Group 2).

Sunday, September 7 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM: Autism In Entertainment Extraordinary Fundraiser.

Saturday, September 13 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM- ASOC Toastmaster Gavel Club. Learn communication, public speaking and leadership skills, while having fun and making friends! Individuals eligible to participate are ASOC adult members and prospective adult members with Asperger’s Syndrome, High Functioning Autism or PDD-NOS, and who are ages 18 or over. Family and friends ages 18 or over are also welcome to join! There will be a one-time materials fee of $26.

Monday, September 15 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM – ASOC ONLINE: What Are the Benefits of Toastmasters for Individuals on the Spectrum? Join doctors Sasha Zeedyk (CSUF) and Yasamin Bolourian (UCLA) as they share the exciting results of the second phase of their Organization for Autism Research (OAR) funded, Amplifying Autistic Voices: A Study of Toastmasters and Autism. In this presentation they will share the results of the two Speechcraft Workshops held during the Summer of 2024.

Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM – ASOC ONLINE: Women’s Discussion Group. ASOC recognizes the special needs of the women with ASD, and will be holding a Women’s Discussion Group Meeting on Saturday, September 20th from 10 am – 11:30 am. This discussion group will be led by Zhara Astra. The fee is $20 per session for dues paying ASOC members and $30 for non-members.

Sunday, September 21 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM – Gantman Conquering Emotions: Dealing with Depression. The “Conquering Emotions” workshops deal with the three most common emotional challenges for individuals on the spectrum. In this session we focus on Depression. Depression is widespread among teens and adults on the spectrum. This session will include a discussion on recognizing signs of depression, understanding the causes, and learning the skills and techniques available for tackling depression. There is a $20 fee for members and $30 fee for non-members. Please note that you must execute an ASOC Liability Waiver to attend this meeting.

Sunday, September 21 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM – ASOC Gathering at Chase Coffee Roasters. Join us at the Chase Coffee Roasters in Fullerton for a casual get-together. Play UNO, eat a snack, or chat. Please feel free to bring your own favorite board or card game. This event is open to all ASOC Families. Please note that ASOC is for teens, adults, and their families. We currently do not have programming for younger children.

Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM – Partner Book Club Meeting
ASOC’s wonderful support group for spouses, partners, and significant others of individuals with high-functioning Autism and Asperger’s is offering a book club. These sessions will be facilitated by coach and author, Kealah Parkinson. During each meeting we will work together through a chapter of her book, sharing experiences and lessons learned. You do not need to have previously attended a partner group meeting to attend. The price is $20 per person.
