Life is a journey, and building a successful, fulfilling life requires thoughtful planning.
As the saying goes, those who fail to plan, plan to fail—but with the right guidance and resources, planning becomes empowering rather than overwhelming.
In our “Make a Plan” section, ASOC highlights many of the common challenges that individuals on the autism spectrum and their families may face at different stages of life. These may include obtaining a diagnosis, navigating health care and insurance, pursuing education, finding meaningful employment, or planning for greater independence.
Throughout this section, we share words of wisdom, practical resources, and recorded webinars designed to support you as you create a plan that works for you. Each year, ASOC’s past president, Judi Uttal, has led members in a workshop focused on creating an annual plan. You may find it helpful to view one of these recorded sessions to get motivated, clarify priorities, and develop a plan that reflects your own goals and circumstances.
Please remember that tackling any one of these challenges is a major project—try not to take on more than two or three in a single year to avoid burnout and give yourself the best chance for success.
