Autism Society Orange County August 2026 Activities
Monday August 3 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM –ASOC Online – Ask the Expert for Parents. Join autism expert, Dr. Alexander Gantman, as he helps parents by answering difficult questions. The Parent Sessions will focus on the increasingly difficult issues that arise in children with Autism. Lack of social relationships and a tendency to shut themselves up in their rooms playing computer games are common battlegrounds. These challenges and more will be addressed in small group settings. The fee is $20 for ASOC members and $30 for non-members.

Saturday, August 8 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM – ASOC Toastmaster Gavel Club. Learn communication, public speaking and leadership skills, while having fun and making friends! Individuals eligible to participate are ASOC adult members and prospective adult members who are ages 18 or over. Family and friends ages 18 or over are also welcome to join!

Saturday, August 8 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM – ASOC Partner Support Group. Attention spouses, partners, and significant others of individuals with Autism. Join us for a special support group sessions, facilitated by coach and author, Kealah Parkinson. During these meetings you will be joined by other partners for an open discussion of your challenges and feelings.

Sunday, August 9 ASOC Dungeons and Dragons. The ASOC Dungeons and Dragons Group journey continues. The cost is $15 per person and food and drinks will be served. All participants must be dues-paying ASOC Members. Note that there are three sessions: 12-1:30 pm (Teens), 1:45-3:15 pm (Adult-Group 1); 3:30-5:00 pm (Adult-Group 2).

Monday, August 10 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM – ASOC Online – Trivia! (coordinated event with ARM)
Think of it as an online gymnasium for the mind – a place where you can build-up your brain muscles answering little-known (and you-really-should-know) questions about movies, music, anime, pop culture, food, fashion and more – all for fun and prizes. It’s ARM Virtual Trivia Night! And it’s speeding its way to you via Zoom this month. This is a 18+ members only event. Attendance is limited to 10 ASOC members.

Thursday, August 13 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM – ASOC Outings -COOKIES & CRAFTS TIME! (coordinated event with ARM)
We’re making Shrinky Dinks accessories! You’ll draw, trace and add color to your favorite characters on a special film – then bake and watch them magically shrink!! Turn your mini masterpieces into keychains, magnets, bag charms AND MORE. All materials will be provided. We’ll make art, have yummy snacks, and socialize. There’s even a parent lounge and a quiet space for those who need a break.
The cost is $15 per family (not per individual). This is a members only event. We are limiting attendance to 10 ASOC members.

Friday, August 14 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM – ASOC Outings – Kung Fu Panda 4. Please join us for a fun Friday night movie outing! We will start our evening at 6 pm with character meet & greets, DJ-led games, and photo opps! The movie, Kung Fu panda 4, will start at sunset. There will be on-site concessions and food trucks to enjoy.
This event is free and parking is also free. The movie location is the flat, grassy area adjacent to parking lots C and E.

Sunday, August 16 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM – ASOC Gathering at Chase Coffee Roasters. Join us at the Chase Coffee Roasters in Fullerton for a casual get-together. Play UNO, eat a snack, or chat. Please feel free to bring your own handheld device, favorite board or card game. This event is open to all ASOC Families.

This meeting provides an opportunity to interact with other ASOC members about the challenges we are all facing as part of the Autism community. Know that we are here for each other.
