Orange County Aspergers Support Group has become Autism Society Orange County (ASOC)! 🎉

Autism Society Orange County (formerly Orange County Asperger’s Support Group) is pleased to announce the sixth annual Jameson Whittaker Memorial Scholarship, a $500.00 academic scholarship.  The scholarship is awarded yearly to an incoming high school senior or recent high school graduate who has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and has demonstrated resilience in overcoming life’s challenges.

The scholarship is in memory of Jameson Daniel Edward Whittaker, a young man with ASD who passed away in 2016 when he while visiting the Grand Canyon on a family vacation.  Jameson was the son of Larry and Deborah Whittaker of Irvine, CA.

“Autism Society Orange County is pleased to award this scholarship, in honor of Jameson and the Whittaker family,” said Robin Redden, President of the Autism Society Orange County. “We are thrilled to recognize teens with ASD who have demonstrated a strong spirit and a desire to help others. Individuals dealing with ASD are often bullied and teased in high school and are rarely recognized for their contributions. We hope that this scholarship will make a difference by acknowledging a young member of the ASD community.”
